Los verbos en inglés (verbs), al igual que en español son palabras que expresan una acción, estado, condición o existencia. Por ejemplo: ask (preguntar), be (ser o estar), believe (creer).
Los verbos en inglés, al igual que en español, se conjugan en diferentes tiempos verbales para expresar tiempo. Algunos tiempos verbales son:
- Present simple. Por ejemplo: answer, answers.
- Past simple. Por ejemplo: answered.
- Future simple. Por ejemplo: will answer.

Tipos de verbos en inglés
Existen distintas formas de clasificar a los verbos en inglés.
Según su transitividad, pueden ser:
- Verbos transitivos. Aceptan un objeto directo. Por ejemplo: love, tell, play.
- Verbos intransitivos. No aceptan un objeto. Por ejemplo: live, work, come.
Según su forma de conjugación, pueden ser:
- Verbos regulares. Agregan la terminación -ed para formar el past simple y el past participle. Por ejemplo: visit (visited), complain (complained), walk (walked).
- Verbos irregulares. No agregan la terminación -ed. Por ejemplo: go (went), eat (ate), sleep (slept).
Existen las phrasal verbs (frases verbales), que son verbos formados por dos partes: un verbo más una preposición o adverbio, que juntos forman un nuevo verbo con un nuevo significado. Por ejemplo: come back (volver), call for (exigir), carry out (realizar).

El past simple es la forma pasada; el past participle (participio pasado) se utiliza para la formación de los perfect tenses (present perfect, past perfect, future perfect) así como también la passive voice (voz pasiva) y los past modals (verbos modales en pasado).
