Oraciones en «past perfect»

El past perfect es un tiempo verbal en inglés que se utiliza para expresar acciones que ocurrieron antes de otra acción pasada. Por ejemplo: I had been there before. / Ya había estado allí antes.

Sirve para expresar anterioridad con relación a otro tiempo pasado, y se utiliza cuando el orden del relato es inverso, es decir, cuando no es cronológico. Por ejemplo: When we got to the theater (pasado), the play had already started (pasado anterior). / Cuando llegamos al teatro, la obra ya había comenzado.

El past perfect equivale al pretérito pluscuamperfecto en español (“había hecho”, “habían ido”).
